Project summary

Our project '' Crossroads over the Aegean '' a bilateral project between Armenio Larissa Greece high school and SUAT TERIMER ANADOLU LISESI,a high school in Istanbul Turkey, has as main target to show that the Aegean has ,always, been a bridge between two lands .
We have chosen :Homeric epics, theater and folk literature  .
Greek folk poems (especially '' paraloges'') became the evolution of ancient Greek tragedy incorporating human soul passion ,which is ,also,vibrant in Turkish folk songs.
On the other hand:Homeric epics (especially Odyssey) and Turkish oral folk literature : (Oğuz Kağan) offer some significant prospects in the richness of their imaginative resources, metaphors /narrative structures and ethical precepts .
Our partners and us will try to find the paths that connect us ,using all the mentioned above mental/cultural creations.
There will be two students teams,one in each school ,supervised by their teachers each ,searching,collecting,and comparing 2.500 years Aegean literature ( and history as well ) to find similarities in order to prove that '' human soul remains the same through centuries and borders''.
Teams will visit one another and discuss about the corpus of their researches and they will have the time to realize mutual bonds between young Europeans . Our students will use English as a contact language and will exercise themselves in new Technologies .Nevertheless,they will study each other's language,for a closer contact.
Communication between partner schools will be continued in an electronic way,through MSN , Skype or e mails.
Evaluation will be contacted constantly through questionnaires.
A three language book will be this partnership fruit.
Results will be published in local newspapers and local TV,school sites will be enriched.
